  1. Introduction
    The Waterfront Project, Inc. (“WFP,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy
    Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share information when you visit
    www.thewaterfrontproject.org, request services, make a donation, register for an event or
    workshop, subscribe to communications, or otherwise interact with us online.
    WFP is a nonprofit legal center founded in Hudson County, New Jersey in 2013. We provide
    free legal services and housing counseling to low-income individuals and families, including
    assistance related to eviction, foreclosure, housing stability, and other housing needs.
  2. Information We Collect
    We may collect information you voluntarily provide, including your name, email address,
    telephone number, mailing address, information submitted through service or contact forms,
    event or workshop registration information, donation or transaction information,
    communication preferences, and other information you choose to provide.
    If you submit information concerning a legal or housing matter, that information may be
    personal or sensitive. Please do not submit confidential, privileged, or time-sensitive
    information through a general website form or email unless WFP has specifically instructed
    you to do so.
  3. Information Collected Automatically
    When you visit our website, certain information may be collected automatically, such as your
    IP address, browser and device information, operating system, pages visited, date and time
    of your visit, referring website, and general website usage information. We may use cookies
    and similar technologies to maintain website functionality, understand website traffic, and
    improve our website and services.
  4. How We Use Information
    We may use information we collect to:
  • respond to inquiries and service requests;
  • provide information about WFP programs and services;
  • assess eligibility for certain services or programs;
  • communicate regarding services, programs, events, and workshops;
  • process and acknowledge donations and other transactions;
  • send requested newsletters and organizational communications;
  • improve our website, programs, and services;
  • maintain website and information security; and
  • comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements
  1. Legal and Housing Services
    WFP provides free civil legal services and HUD-certified housing counseling. Submitting
    information through our website does not, by itself, create an attorney-client, counselor client, or other professional relationship with WFP.
    Do not submit confidential or urgent legal information through a general contact form or
    email. If you need assistance, please use WFP’s service-request process available through
    the “Get Help” section of our website.
  2. How We Share Information
    WFP does not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information when
    reasonably necessary to operate our organization, provide requested services, process
    transactions, or comply with the law. This may include sharing information with technology
    and website providers, payment processors, donation platforms, email or communications
    providers, event or program partners, professional service providers, government agencies
    when required or permitted by law, or other parties when you authorize us to do so.
    We take reasonable steps to ensure that service providers handle personal information
    appropriately and for legitimate purposes.
  3. Donations and Payments
    Donations made through our website are processed through third-party payment platforms.
    WFP may receive information necessary to record and acknowledge a donation or
    transaction. Payment card information may be collected and processed directly by the
    applicable payment provider rather than stored by WFP. Please review the privacy policy of
    the payment provider for information about its practices.
  4. Email Communications
    If you subscribe to WFP communications, we may use your email address to send
    organizational news, housing information, events, educational materials, fundraising
    communications, and other updates. You may unsubscribe from promotional or newsletter
    communications at any time using the unsubscribe link included in the email. We may
    continue to send transactional or service-related communications when necessary to
    respond to a request or provide services.
  5. Cookies and Analytics
    Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to support website functionality and understand how visitors use the site. Third-party services may collect information about your device, browser, pages visited, and general website activity for analytics or website functionality.
    You may be able to manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling
    cookies may affect some website functionality.

    partner organizations, payment providers, social media platforms, and other resources. WFP is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of third-party websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those websites before providing personal information.
  7. Data Security
    WFP takes reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect
    personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
    However, no method of transmitting information over the internet or storing information
    electronically can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
