Who can you rely on in a time of need?
When your housing is at risk, that question becomes urgent. When a crisis comes, who can you turn to?
For many, the courtroom feels intimidating, especially when facing something as serious as eviction. Questions start to build; Will this go to court? Can I afford a lawyer? What happens next?
For too many families, the cost of legal help is the biggest barrier.
At The Waterfront Project, it never is.
When our client was facing eviction and needed legal support, they turned to us after seeing one of our team members advocate passionately for a client in court. That moment stayed with them, and when they needed help, they knew where to go.
After coming to us for consultation, our team and Managing Attorney, Beryl Dayton, worked with the client to gather and submit all the necessary documentation to their landlord. With the right guidance and support, their case was resolved – without ever stepping into a courtroom.
Our client’s story is one of many.
It’s a reminder that having access to free, trusted legal support can change everything. It can mean avoiding court altogether. It can mean staying in your home. It can mean peace of mind during an otherwise overwhelming time.
And this is why it matters:
The Waterfront Project exists to make sure no one has to face housing instability alone or choose between getting help and affording it. Every day, we provide free legal services and housing counseling so families in our community can remain safe, housed, and stable.
Your support makes that possible.
With your help, we can continue showing up for neighbors like our client; before a crisis escalates, before a court date is set, and before a family loses their home.
Even a small monthly gift can make a difference. One dollar supports a neighbor; a few dollars strengthen an entire community.
